Lyrics

Bridge says "tune anonymous, date probably 16th century." This poor tune is certainly no more than a corrupt form of "Walsingham". The right tune is that of "Come live with me", which follows. You'll find this version sung by the Welsh parson in Shakespeare Merry Wives of Windsor", Act III, Scene 1.

To shallow rivers to whose falls
Melodious birds sing madrigals.
There will we make our beds of roses,
And a thousand fragrant posies.
